Still Waiting

The Great Recession goes on and on and on. With the stimulus dollars (never enough to begin with, despite the claims of the deficit hawks) running out, the economy is shrinking again. Alas, now that we’re in the late stages of the election cycle, there’s zero chance that Congress or the president will undertake the bold action required to pull us out of this mess. All the Republicans want to do is give more to the rich and cut everyone else, slashing the tattered remnants of the safety net. And Obama is reduced to blaming Bush rather than pushing a people-first agenda. Hang on, folks. We might be stranded on the runway for quite some time.

I feel our Only hope is that most people will not believe the Lies of the GOP and will give the Democtats a larger majority so that maybe Obama can get something done. Not that I think the Democrats are so great, just that the Republicans are a Real Danger to our country. And the Tea Party is going to drag the rest of the Republicans down with them, I hope.

all in all, Obama has been fine, although I am disappointed he blew an amazing opportunity, wasting efforts at inclusiveness when the obverse was clear. as a lawyer, he should have known to learn the definitions of the words. for instance, ‘bipartisan’ you can expect to mean ‘bi’, two, parties, dems & reps, and you would have been right prior to georgie, although as a simpleton, he can pass the blame to his handlers, roveian & the darth. when georgie wanted something from the awol congress who rubber stamped him, any democrat opposition was met with ‘now boys, you are playing partisan politics’, and the dumb dems duh-hed and caved. so, when Obama invited the reps to the White House and asked for bipartisan work to get the messes fixed, the boner et al groupies assumed he meant he would do what they wanted.
analogously, following the 9/11/01 attacks, georgie had an amazing opportunity around the globe and wasted little time burning every bridge he crossed.
