I would have to also agree with your observation on the Repubs. I disagree on the downhill bit as we are already in the sewer after 8 years of GW. I'm not sure how you can go much lower than invading another country on false pretenses and approving/using torture. Can't say I completely disagree with the first statement, though. Except I would add that the Repubs are resisting primarily for the sake of political advantage, rather than on principal. Much like the dems did in the latter part of the so-called "lost decade." P.S. Just in case I seem to fit the profile, I am NOT a birther.
