Take a Hike

Is it finally time for the Republican Party to give up its “family values” crusade? Have there been enough scandals yet to persuade the holier-than-thou bunch that they have no moral authority to preach to the rest of us? The hypocrisy of South Carolina Governor Mark “Impeach Bill Clinton” Sanford is breathtaking, but no more audacious than Newt Gingrich’s finger-pointing at Clinton while Newt was shacking up outside his own marriage. And while we’re at it, if you’re unable to control your own sexual appetites, maybe it’s a good idea not to bash gays and lesbians for wanting a monogamous relationship. In fact, why don’t you stay out of the sexual morality business entirely, and let all of us handle our own personal ethics? Is that too much to ask? Unfortunately, given recent experience, it probably is.

Morality and politics are strange bedfellows. I have always found it interesting when one party points a finger at the other over a lack of morals. Pot calling the kettle black comes to mind.
One of the reasons I don’t want big government is because it doesn’t really matter what letter they put next to their name, most of them are corrupt crooks that will stab you in the back in a moments notice. A smaller, less powerful federal government is what the Founding Fathers intended, not the overly bloated bureaucratic monster we have now.
For the above reason I tend to vote conservative, unfortunately the GOP has lost its way when it comes to conservative values.
However, the political pendulum of power never stops swinging and the day will come when the GOP is back in power. Will they have learned anything from being the minority party and regain their conservative ways?
I doubt it, just as the Dems seemed to have learned little from their minority status.
There is so very little integrity and honor left in politics today…its really sad.
I know Mr. Stein in fairly liberal and that’s fine, but I would be careful not to cast stones in a glass house so to speak.
