So now the banks that took the bailout money want to give it back as fast as they can. Why? Surely not because they’re suddenly solvent. No, not exactly. The big boys are chafing at the rules that come attached to the money–more transparency in how they do their business, and limits on the bonuses the execs can take. How dare the government that’s saving them from their own greed and mismanagement tell them how to run their businesses!

Considering the current Goverment has been writing the laws so that the bonuses can’t be denied(AIG anyone?) It’s probably more like how the Goverment is takeing direct controll of GM that is scaring them.
The government isn’t taking control of GM, they have taken control of GM. Our President was a “community organizer” and has no business experience what-so-ever. It is doubtful that he could successfully operate a pop corn stand, much less run General Motors.
Listenting to way too much talk radio….
To intimate that the President of the US has the time to “run” GM is idiotic. If he did, though, he couldn’t do any worse than Wagoner did.
What is the skill set for a large company CEO these days, besides greed, that is?
You are correct, Jerry, the amount of time he spends apologizing for our country and blaming the last administration, would not leave enough time to run a company.
Yes, he won’t run GM. He will appoint a ‘car czar’ who will reassure us all by saying “I know nothing about cars”.
I am somehow reminded of Amtrak…have they returned to being profitable after like 30 years of being run by the government?
Strange…
