In addition to being Cinco de Mayo, May 5 is National Cartoonists Day (so ordained by the National Cartoonists Society). I’m not exactly sure how one is supposed to celebrate the occasion. I suggest taking your favorite cartoonist out to lunch and showering him with expensive presents and large sums of cash to show your appreciation for the joy he or she has given you. In honor of the day, I’ll be posting a new cartoon or two this afternoon. You can honor me by enjoying the new work.

I’ve always liked to think of it as “Inko de Mayo.”
