I can only hope that Obama is as firm and decisive with health care reform as he was with the Somali pirates. The Senate has an ambitious schedule of getting serious reform passed before the August recess, but the insurance and for-profit hospital and HMO lobbies are already hard at work trying to scuttle anything that might reduce their share of the pie. Let’s see if any real changes happen this time. I have my doubts.

  1. Donald the Duck says:

what is a lobbyist other than an un-indicted felon? after all, bribery remains a felony. and the politicians accepting said bribes? The health care industry has hundreds of billions they pass off to all politicians willing to take the fat envelopes. They are a behemoth between physicians and patients in a triad of adversarial connectivity. Physicians and patients lose. Those monsters dictate, yet they lack legal liability assumed by physicians, and they lack legal accountability to patients. This wheel is not broken; it is shattered. As a side note, governmental, and other, intrusions into the relationships should enter the world of reality and practicality. Steamline the process; create an amicable relationship.
