Now that former Veep Dick Cheney has weighed in, the Republican campaign against Obama has begun in earnest. Less than two months in office, his cabinet no yet complete, if you listen to the Republicans, the Obama administration is already an abject failure. Fatboy loudmouth Rush Limbaugh has already made the GOP position pathetically clear: they hope Obama fails, and will do everything in their power to achieve that goal. Never mind the suffering the people of this country are enduring, in large part due to the Republican mismanagement of the economy for the last eight years. Forget bipartisan compromise. Forget working together to right the ship. They just want to win back political power, at whatever cost. If it weren’t so destructive, we could laugh their ravings off as simply more of their delusional incompetence.

If the party had anything at all to offer, their criticisms might be worth listening to, but this is just more of the scorched earth policy, in place of any real ideas, that they perfected while Clinton was in office. I only hope that this time, the voters will do more than simply tune them out; I hope we repudiate them even more completely the next time we vote. They’ve earned nothing less.

    Ever the eternal optimist…

The only negative about them losing even more power is that the Dems will come to need restraint, too. :-(

Yeah I remember when the Democrats wanted Bush to succeed….not!
During the eight years of the Bush presidency, there was a $22 trillion increase in household net worth.
Remember what really caused this economic chaos…Democrats interfering with the free market.

Democrats interfering in the free market. Yeah, the free market that turned Wall Street into Vegas. That wouldn’t have happened if the Democrats hadn’t done–what exactly?–while the Bushies were in power. Right, and that $22 trillion wasn’t the make-believe money that’s all evaporated now that the deregulated financial system has collapsed. You’ve drunk of the Kool Aid deeply, my friend.

      Dear Mr. Stein,

OK I am going to take a stab at this: 1. This collapse of the economy was promulgated by the Democrats under the Clinton administration with the deregulation of the lending industry and the avarice of the companies and executives (Clinton cronies I might add) making loans that by all observations would default. 2. The current administration is just “throwing good money after bad.” 3. Bush is no longer in office-Quit blaming him. 4. I already have a Savior, I voted for a President. 5. To liberals, free speech is a right as long as you agree with them. 6. Even though I may not agree with your observations, I enjoy your cartoons as you often nail it. Your cartoon on the IRA is dead on!!! Please continue your thoughtful and thought provoking pictorial essays.

Hmmm… well how about starting with the fact that Bush & Republicans asked for regulation of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac because of it’s corruption and risk to the housing and banking market and the Democrats, specifically, Barney Frank & Chris Dodd, saying everything was just ducky.
