TweetWe’ll be setting up Ed’s new home on the web in the coming days, but for now you’ll have to consider the site “under construction.” In the meantime, you can use the comments on this post to send Ed any comments, suggestions for the new site, etc. that you may have. Thanks!

Good setup. This should work well. Great URL!
yeah!
I’ll be watching for updates. Must have humor….Thanks ed…….J
I’ve subscribed to your feed, so I am looking forward to reading your future cartoons now that the Rocky Mountain News is dead.
Looking forward to more Ed Stein ink.
Definitely!
And RIP, Rocky! *sadness*

I’ve been going through the limited archives of your work on the Rocky site. Severl observations:
- one will not need a history book for the years covered, your work does the job just fine. The first class I ever took in college used political cartoons as an educational tool.
- is there anyway you can, over time, post the rest of your body of work?
- or, alternatively, I for one would buy a number of copies of your collected work in a New York minute, even a newyork second.
What a bittersweet exercise to see how prescient you been over the last several years, and longer if memory serves me, and to know that the people of Colorado have had this knowledge stolen from them.
Hi Ed: I was not a subscriber to the Rocky but always asked my neighbor for his. You cartoons are the only reason I read any part of the Rocky. Not that either newspaper was better, even though I’m sure you would argue the point and rightfully so, I liked the comic strip Hagar and his sidekick, Lucky Eddie.
Saddened by the passing of the Rocky, Ed. Your cartoons and spirited discussion was something I anticipated and will miss. Except for LetsThink’s “and we Conservatives help pay Ed Stein’s salary?” Never did quite figure that one out anyway. Can I register my Ike moniker on your new site for comments?
Thanks for the light brought to the Editorial pages of the Rocky. Looking forward to more of your insights!
Ike,
Thanks for the kind comments and for stopping by. In answer to your question: we enabled site signups today, and we’re hoping to establish a similar community of readers and commenters to what we had at the Rocky here, so feel free to register your moniker (you can do so here). Once registered you can also opt in to receive new cartoons via email and setup a public profile, with more features to be added soon.
Thanks again!
In deep mourning for loss of our Rocky Mountain News and the thought of not reading the 1,000 words in each of your amazing cartoons. I even went to RockyMountainNews.com just to see them again only to find the archives aren’t available. Thrilled to find you here. Godspeed to you, Ed.
Hello Artist,
I just wanted to wish you a continuing art life. I have enjoyed your work for a long time. In my early art career , I thought I wanted to be a cartoonist. I didn’t have the stamina, to have new ideas on a regular basis.
I am an easel painter and metal sculptor in Denver. I was interviewed by NPR in November 2008. Find it by google.
Cartoonists are very special artists and I enjoy seeing the drawings.
Sincerely,
Bob Ragland
ROCK on, my friend! I can’t wait to see what comes next.
Good to see you up and running, Ed!
A small “silver lining” emerges…a ray of hope from the blackness!
Hooray!!
I am definitely missing the buzz and camaraderie of the newsroom and you coming over once in a while to get my reaction to tomorrow’s cartoon. Glad I can keep seeing them this way at least, old friend.
Even from a distance, Friday was a sad day. Maybe it was especially sad because of the distance … since I couldn’t be with you and my other former colleagues.
Good luck on the new endeavor.
Ed
You are still a left-wing hack. But still, good luck.
Glad we will still have a chance to read you online, Ed. Rocky-on. Cheers, Laurie
Glad you’re back; such sad circumstances.
I’m subscribing. Are you selling, too? Or you could sell at redbubble.com?
X
Ed,
I thought I would check in with you. Even though I live in Houston, I have been a fan of yours for the past 20 or so years. I first became acquainted with the Rocky when visiting relatives in Colorado during Christmas back in the 80s. I would drive down to the local grocery to get a newspaper–the Rocky always caught my eye. Being a hack cartoonist myself, I appreciated your art style and commentary that always hit the target. I’m saddened that a business of 150 years had to close its doors. Good luck with your new endeavor.
Dear Ed, Thanks for coming back to your thousands + of devoted readers! Now, I know the REAL reason ‘God made computers’. THIS is great, and very deeply appreciated! Best of health and happiness, and much continued success ~ always!
Ed, as you know, I have commended you a couple dozen times over the last 30 years for the tremendously prolific job you did at the Rocky Mountain News. I could have written you once a week, but I know you got the general idea. Your final cartoon is very moving in its simplicity. I regret the loss of all the 220 jobs at the News. I’ll miss those talented people whose work was visible every day, and also all those unsung personnel who worked behind the scenes to produce an excellent newspaper. I have been a reader of both the News and the Post for as long as I can remember, which is a helluva long time. While some News veterans are swearing never to read the Post, it’s now the only game in town. I use the Internet to catch some headlines, but the printed edition can never be equaled as a source of news. Good luck, Ed. I am delighted that I’ll continue to enjoy your work. —Jerry Archuleta, News retiree
Jerry, no matter how long we’ve been out of the “Big House” (RMN), knowing these people who gave their life’s blood — to only lose their jobs — is, indeed, heart wrenching. I read several newspapers on line most days. But, one thing is for sure, as long as their are puppies and paper training, there will always be a need for ‘the other paper.’
We will make it my friend. Dean
Hi Ed, There have been so many good comments given to you and your work that I can’t add anything better. I would only add that I too would like to see all of your cartoons that have been part of your life and have been right on point, placed on your web site. In this country where money pays the bills and does the most communicating it is difficult to get the word or cartoon out that points to places where through no fault of their own, life is more of a struggle. Another words its good to have been able to see a good cartoon that supports the underdog and get the gull of those folks in powerful places.
Love the new site. Duly bookmarked. Nice work Gabe!
Glad to see you back in the game Ed. Keep your good work coming, my friend.
